George Jacob Jung, commonly known as Boston George or El Americano, is a former American drug trafficker and smuggler. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was a prominent role in cocaine trafficking in the United States. He was related to the Medellin Cartel, which supplied 90% of the cocaine in the United States.

George Jung: Biography and Early Life
George Jung was born on 6 August 1942 to Frederick and Erminalia “Ermine” Jung in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. He was raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts, where he received his education. In school, he was not excelling well in academics but was very good in football and was called by his classmates “a natural leader.”
He was first arrested by undercover police with allegations of solicitation of prostitution.

Jung collaborated with filmmaker Michael Cimino’s nephew T. Rafael on the novel Heavy, which was published in September 2014. The fictional account of Jung’s escape from a Cuban prison and subsequent exile in Guatemala is told in the film Heavy.
During his final days in his Weymouth, Massachusetts home, Jung passed away on May 5, 2021 from liver and kidney failure. He had been receiving hospice care.

Jung met up with his childhood friend in 1967, who made him realize how profitable the smuggling of cannabis is. He first used his then-girlfriend to transport them in her briefcase on flights. Later, he started getting drugs from Puerto Vallarta and Mexico with stolen planes. Jung and his associate got approximately $250 000, which is around $1.6 million n 2020 in a month.

In 1974, Jung was arrested for smuggling 300 kg of Marijuana in Chicago. He had been staying at a playboy club while looking for a connection to pick up the marijuana. His connection was arrested first for smuggling heroin and informed the authorities about Jung to shorten his sentence. Jung was sent to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury.
While serving his sentence at FCI Danbury, he met his cellmate, Carlos Lehder Rivas, who introduced him to international drug trafficking, Medellin Cartel, while he taught him about smuggling. Both were released in 1975 and became business partners to sell cocaine. They took it from Pablo Escobar, who owned a Columbian ranch in the United States, where his connection, Richard Berlie, picked it in California.
He made millions, although he was only a middle man. Later, they came up with the idea to be stealing planes that would transport cocaine at $10 000 each kilogram. Carlos later cut off Jung from his business and went straight to Berlin. However, he went ahead with his smuggling business until he was caught in 1987 and arrested, though he was soon released. He worked on various “clean jobs” until 1994 when he reconnected with his Mexican marijuana smuggling partner. He was arrested with 796 kg (1753 pounds” of cocaine in Topeka, Kansas, but pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy. He was sentenced to 60 years imprisonment and was taken to FCI, Los Angeles, and Tuna. However, his sentence was shortened to 20 years, and he was released on 27 November 2014.
After two years since his release, he was arrested again for violation of his parole on 6 December 2016. He was released on 3 July 2017 after completing his jail term.
