2023: Obasanjo Reacts To Claims Of Sponsoring Three Southern spirants or Presidency

Former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has refuted endorsing three southern presidential candidates ahead of the 2023 general elections.

On Saturday, Obasanjo debunked the rumors while addressing at a symposium in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, to commemorate his 85th birthday.

He also stated emphatically that he has not endorsed anyone for the presidency next year.

Obasanjo said: “I read and hear about endorsement and statements in support of candidates that I frankly have not made and forming next political parties that I can never get involved in.

“I was told that social media credited to me the names of three people from the south that I am sponsoring for Presidency in 2023.

“My friend, Professor Ango Abdullah, who brought this to my knowledge. I have neither named names nor stated my position.”

In other news, President Buhari has stated that Nigerians must begin to seek outside the military and security services for long-term answers to the country’s insecurity problems. 

Buhari made his submission in a speech to the National Defence College Alumni Association’s (AANDEC) launching event on Tuesday in Abuja. According to a statement released by Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Nigerians must become more enthusiastic in cooperating with security forces to address the country’s difficulties.
