The Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has disclosed that some delegates were forced to swear an oath before they were allowed to vote during the ruling All Progressive Congress primaries in Kwara State. Senator Oloriegbe made this known while appearing on a Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily monitored by SaharaReporters on Wednesday. He said, “Like in Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq just sat down with a few of his people one night and they produced a supposed delegates’ list for the whole state. “The aspirants didn’t even know the delegates, they changed them at will. Thus, they only selected those that would take instructions from them, in some instances some even took oaths,” he said. According to him, the funds given to the delegates were for logistics. Oloriegbe had during the exercise held in May lost the APC senatorial primaries in the state to Malam Saliu Mustaphato. Faulting the process through which primaries were conducted in most states, the senator accused the governors of imposing delegates on party supporters. In 2019, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki lost his bid for reelection into the Senate from Kwara Central on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party to Oloriegbe. He had a total of 123,808 votes to defeat the former Senate President who polled 68,994 votes in the four local governments of Kwara Central Senatorial District.
