Repent or we send you back to your creator - Matawalle tells Bandit Informants

Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, has issued a stern warning to informants aiding bandits, urging them to repent or face severe consequences.

During an assessment visit to Gundumi village and the Isa and Sabon Birni local government areas in Sokoto State on Thursday, October 10, Matawalle expressed his dismay at the diminished activity in the once-thriving village.

He reassured the locals, saying, “This place used to be lively with a lot of business activities. I assure you it will bounce back. We are going to establish a military base here.”

Addressing those who collaborate with bandits, he cautioned, “But you must fear God. Those who have been calling and informing bandits about the movement of security operatives and betraying their own brothers should stop immediately. You better repent, or we will send you back to your creator.”

Matawalle emphasized that the fight against banditry is not the responsibility of the government and security agencies alone but a collective duty of all Nigerians. He called on journalists to play their part in combating the misinformation spread by bandits on social media.

“The media has a critical role to play, as we know bandits flood social media with all sorts of propaganda. Our media houses must continue to report the successes recorded by our gallant military in the fight against banditry and insurgency.”

Highlighting recent victories, Matawalle noted, “Just recently, the military delivered a significant blow to the miscreants by neutralizing a notorious bandit kingpin, Halidu Sububu, who was a key supplier of arms and ammunition. Other kingpins have also been sent to early graves.”
