Abducted Former Lecturer Rescued By Local Hunters In Ogun

Local hunters rescued Fasasi Olanigan, a retired lecturer from the Federal Polytechnic, Ofa, Kwara State, from his kidnappers.

According to DailyPost, the hunters engaged the kidnappers in action in Isaga, Ogun State, and they fled, abandoning their victim.

On Thursday, September 9, Olanigan was rescued, one day after he was kidnapped by bandits while traveling from Abeokuta to Imasai on Wednesday, September 8.

Olanigan was traveling from Abeokuta to Imasai, completely oblivious to the fact that kidnappers were waiting for him. They then pulled him into the woods, abandoning his car on the side of the road.

After the kidnapping, hunters searched the jungle for the kidnappers and were successful in rescuing the former lecturer.

The rescued victim was alleged to have been escorted to the Onisaga’s palace, then to the police station, before being driven to a private hospital in Abeokuta to be treated for injuries received while in the kidnappers’ custody.

As at the time of reporting, he reunited with his family.

In other news, Yawi Modu, a high-profile Boko Haram member, was arrested by Nigerian forces from Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK).

The military also stormed Boko Haram’s improvised explosive device (IED) materials hubs in Borno and Yobe States’ Damboa and Gashua Local Government Areas, separately.

The operational feats were recorded during rigorous operations undertaken by troops of OPHK, according to Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, who stated this in a statement on Thursday, September 9 in Abuja.
