Gopal Sri Ram Funeral: When Is Gopal Sri Ram Funeral?: Gopal Sri Ram, officially known as Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram was a Malaysian judge born on August 16, 1943.

He was called to the English bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1969 and subsequently called to the Malaysian bar in 1970. Gopal Sri Ram was in active practice as an advocate until his elevation on September 17, 1994.

In 1994, he became the first practicing lawyer in Malaysia to be appointed directly to the Court of Appeal from the private bar when the court was first established during Mahathir Mohamad’s administration.

Gopal Sri Ram was also appointed as a bencher by the Lincoln’s Inn in 2005 and was well known for his brilliant explosive as well as unconventional judgments. He also appeared in several leading cases covering a wide area of law.

In 2009, he was promoted to the Federal Court but retired in 2010. Gopal Sri Ram wrote about 800 judgments while sitting in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court between 1994 and 2010.

He returned from retirement to practice law again and was appointed in 2018 by then attorney-general, Tommy Thomas to lead the prosecution in the 1MDB-related cases and Rosmah’s graft case.

As of January 2023, he was a judge of the Federal Court, a senior lawyer, and a distinguished constitutional jurist. However, he died on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the age of 79 after being warded for a lung infection a week before.
