We backed out of dialogue with bandits because they deceived us – Governor Matawalle

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has acknowledged that Zamfara state backed out of dialogue with bandits because of they deceived his authorities.

Answering questions from state residence correspondents after a gathering with President Muhammadu Buhari, held on the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday September 16, Matawalle acknowledged the state now enjoys relative peace.

Consistent with the Governor, they opted to battle bandits to a logical conclusion after realizing that the bandits had deceived them.

He acknowledged;

“They’ve deceived us. A number of of them did not adjust to what we agreed with them. We thought it was one factor we’d proceed with them, nevertheless we later realised that that that they had deceived us. So, we would have liked to once more out of it and decide to battle them to a logical conclusion.

“As you already know, we’re there stopping and we have taken loads of measures in an effort to curtail this draw back of insurgency. We thank God it’s yielding loads of outcomes. We’ve recorded loads of successes from what we have carried out.

“As you may be aware, we have loads of security personnel which were deployed to Zamfara state and so they’re working severely.”

Commenting on the security state of affairs inside the state, Matawalle acknowledged;

“It’s merely that we have decrease loads of points, notably shifting of foodstuffs, animals and selling of petroleum merchandise.

“We have imposed loads of measures and the people are happy with the measures, because of the oldsters had suffered heaps; people have been being killed and kidnapped day-after-day sooner than, nevertheless proper this second we have succeeded. We don’t have a lot of such factors in Zamfara state.”
