Three Nasarawa lawmakers escape assassination attempt

Three members of the Nasarawa State Home of Meeting have escaped assassination alongside Akwanga- Lafia Freeway.

The assault occurred at about 10 am on Wednesday, September 1, when Hon Samuel Tsebe (APC- Akwanga South Constituency), Hon David Maiyaki (APC- Karu/ Gitata) and Hon Peter Akwanga PDP- Obi 1, have been getting back from the burial ceremony of Tsebe’s brother-in-law.

It was gathered that the suspected assassins focused the car of Hon Tsebe in the course of the assault.

Talking after the incident, Tsebe expressed gratitude to God for saving his life and the lives of his colleagues.

“Three of us left Akwanga this morning in our separate automobiles, coming to our workplace in Lafia after the burial of my brother-in-law, which was carried out yesterday,” he narrated.

“After we are approaching Wowyen village alongside Akwanga/Lafia street that’s between Police Cellular Coaching School, Ende Hills and the village in the direction of the bridge. I heard gunshots on the driver’s facet of my automotive wherein I used to be the one driving

“The bullet broke down the glasses of my automotive. The pictures have been focused on the driver wherein I used to be the one driving, so this gave me a suspicion that somebody was monitoring my motion and knew that I used to be the one driving.

“It’s extra of assassination try. I’ve knowledgeable the police on the assassination try. Thank God my life was saved.” he added.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the State Police Command,  ASP Ramhan Nansel, mentioned a suspect has been arrested in reference to the incident.

“On receipt of the criticism, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi, instantly directed officers of the anti-kidnapping unit of the command, led by CSP Anietie Eyoh, to go after the legal components and a suspect has been arrest.” he said.
