Why did Panya Khamrab kill 34 individuals?
At around 3 p.m. local time, the attacker shot himself, his wife, and their child after his attack at the daycare centre in Nong Bua Lamphu, Thailand (9 a.m. UK time).

At least 34 people were killed, including 24 children, when a former policeman opened fire at a children’s nursery in northern Thailand.

The 34-year-old gunman killed himself, his wife, and his child in Nong Bua Lamphu, approximately 333 miles northeast of Bangkok, where a large manhunt was underway after he was sacked from his job for using illegal substances.

Panya Khamrab’s motives remain a mystery, but 24 children, some as young as two years old, were among the 18 injured and 34 fatalities, a local police officer said on Thursday.

Jidapa Boonsom, a district official, claims that initially, “they thought it was fireworks.”

A police spokeswoman, Paisan Luesomboon, claims that the attacker was enraged when he arrived at the daycare and saw that his child was not there. Then he walked away.

According to Ms. Boonsom, one of the four or five employees the shooter initially shot was a teacher who was eight months pregnant.

The teacher who was shot posted a picture from his son’s birthday celebration the day before the tragedy.

The attacker fired at people as he drove away after shooting at the daycare centre, according to PPTV, a local TV station. Witnesses also claimed to have seen the shooter wielding a knife.

Images allegedly depicted children’s bodies encircled by bloody puddles and covered in white blankets.

At the time of the shooting, the facility was closed for afternoon naps
According to Thai Tiger, as Mr. Khamrab left the scene in a white Vigo pickup truck with a Bangkok registration, the front bumper of the automobile was torn off.

According to the nearby hospitals in Nong Bua Lamphu and Na Klang, blood is urgently needed to treat assault victims. Anyone who is able to donate blood immediately should head to one of the hospitals as soon as they can.

Mr. Juti Krairiksh, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, has ordered regional administrators to provide all gunshot victims and their families with prompt aftercare.

The police spokeswoman then begged people to stop sharing pictures and videos of the victims with gunshot wounds.

Major General Achayon Kraithong, a spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, said that no one wanted the tragedy to happen.

“I want to start by extending my condolences to all the families who have lost loved ones,” the speaker continued.

Users on social networks are urged to please refrain from sharing images and videos of the injured.

General Anupong Paochinda gave the order to close all child development centres in the area.

Thailand has fewer mass shootings than some of its neighbours despite having a substantially higher frequency of gun ownership.

In 2020, a soldier embarked on a four-location shooting rampage that left at least 29 people dead and 57 injured when a property deal failed.

Prayuth Chan-ocha, the prime minister of Thailand, described the shooting as “a horrific act”
I would like to send my sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased and injured, he said.

Chan-ocha also commanded all organisations to treat the injured as soon as possible.

Thailand has a higher rate of gun ownership than some other nations in the region.

The teacher who tries to flee the shooter describes the scene below:

The instructor, who climbed a wall to flee the shooter, stated, “I knew it was a gun because I heard multiple gunshots, and then I saw him put in the bullets and point the rifle at me.”

“The teacher was cuddling the student when I called. He kicked the mirror as I climbed the walls and begged for assistance.

He was in the kids’ centre quite a bit. He used a knife to cut off the heads of every child. He also carried a little rifle.

“I had no idea he was planning to kill the kids. When I thought he would come out, he remained inside for a long time. He used a knife to stab each youngster. He also stabbed a female instructor who was expecting. Not long from now, she will give birth. My staff was cut by his knife. I just know that.

Police say the perpetrator drove home after the heinous crime in a white pickup vehicle, where he then shot his wife and child before killing himself.

About 30 youngsters were sleeping in a confined room at the centre when the shooter stormed in and viciously shot and stabbed them there.

After that, he continued his rampage outside, driving into bystanders with his truck and shot at them. Pictures of the scene show victims covered in blankets lying all over the nursery floor.

The bereaved family could be seen crying outside the nursery as an ambulance hurriedly rushed the injured to a hospital.
