Uganda Detains Vice Chancellor Over Allegations Of Espionage

The Ugandan safety forces are holding the Vice-Chancellor of the privately owned Victoria College over allegations of espionage and illegally staying within the nation.

The Nation’s Military spokesperson, Brigadier Basic Flavia Byekwaso acknowledged this on Tuesday, stressing that investigations are ongoing.

Dr Lawrence Muganga, who’s of Rwandan descent, was picked up by plain-clothed officers from his workplace in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, on Thursday afternoon.

It’s unclear whether or not his arrest is linked to Rwanda, which neighbours Uganda.

Relations between the 2 international locations are generally tense – with accusations of interference in one another’s affairs.
