Paul Emerson Carlyle Ince is an English professional football manager who is currently serving as interim manager at EFL Championship side Reading. He is also a former player who played as a midfielder from 1982 to 2007. • At the age of 14, he joined the youth team of West Ham United in 1982 and began his career at the club. He made his debut for the club on 30 November 1986 against Newcastle United in the First Division. 
• In the 1987-88 season, he became a regular first-team player and one of the key players for West Ham United, proving himself to have all-around qualities of pace, stamina, uncompromising tackling, and good passing ability. Unfortunately for him, West Ham was not enjoying one of their best spells when he broke into the team. • On 14 September 1989, he joined Manchester United for the fee of £1 million. He made his debut for the club on 16 September 1989 in a 5-1 win against Millwall. During his career at Manchester United, he became United’s key midfielder, with snapping tackles, raking passes, and some tremendously hit shots, though he was not too prolific a goalscorer. He won numerous honours with Manchester United where he made 214 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing 16 goals in all the competitions. With Manchester United, he won two Premier League, FA Cup, three FA Charity Shield, one Football League Cup, European Cup Winners’ Cup, and one European Super Cup. 
• After playing six seasons at Manchester United, on 1 July 1995, he signed for Inter Milan. He made his debut for the club on 27 August 1995 in a 1-0 win against Vicenza. On 6 April 1996, he scored his first goal for the club in a 4-2 win against Cremonese. In his first season, he made 35 appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist in all the competitions as Inter Milan failed to challenge for a 14th scudetto, finishing seventh in Serie A. 
• He had another successful season with the club where he made 38 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and providing 2 assists in all the competitions as Inter Milan finished third in Serie A and also played his part in Inter’s run through to the UEFA Cup final. • After two seasons in Italy, on 10 June 1997, he returned to England joining Liverpool for more than £4 million- a move that surprised many because of the long history of rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool, and few players had ever appeared for both of these clubs during their careers. He won no honours in his two seasons with Liverpool as his new club were in the midst of a transitional period where they were cast as ‘nearly men’, and also described as the ‘Spice Boys’ – a term coined to describe players including Steve McManaman, Robbie Fowler, Jason, McAteer, and Jamie Redknapp as underachieving playboys in the game; the term itself is derived from the name of the contemporary pop group, the Spice Girls. During his career at Liverpool, he made 81 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists in all the competitions.

On 5 May 2007, under his management, Macclesfield emerged safely in the Coca-Cola Football League Two.

Milton Keynes Dons 

• In June 2007, he felt the need to move on and joined Milton Keynes Dons as their new manager. He was named League Two Manager of the Month in October and December 2007, and again in April 2008. On 30 March 2008, he gained his first trophy as a manager when MK Dons beat Grimsby in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley. He then secured the Dons’ return to League One on 19 April after they beat Stockport County by 3-2. A week later, the Dons became League Two champions after they beat Bradford City by 2-1. 

Blackburn Rovers

• In June 2008, he was appointed manager of Blackburn Rovers and became the first black English manager in the Premier League.  On the first day of the 200809 FA Premier League season, Blackburn won 3-2 against Everton at Goodison on 16 August. His 2008 summer signings included England international goalkeeper Paul Robinson, Danny Simpson (loan), Vince Grella, Carlos Villanueva (loan), Robbie Fowler, Mark Bunn, and Keith Andrews, spending over £10 million on Robinson, Grella, and Andrews. However, on 16 December 2008, he was sacked as manager of Blackburn after less than six months in charge, in which time the club had managed just three wins in 17 games.

Milton Keynes Dons

• On 3 July 2009, he signed again for Milton Keynes Dons on a two-year deal. During his second spell, the Dons were less successful, finishing in 13th place in League One. On 16 April 2010, he announced that he would leave the job a year early, at the end of the 2009-10 season.
