Four aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have asked an Osogbo High Court to stop the party from fielding Isola Kamoli Adeniyi and Lawal Adeyinka Lukman as candidates of the party in the forthcoming Osun 2022 LG polls, for Iwo Local Government and Iwo East Local Council Development Area, respectively.

The four aggrieved APC members are: Ojeniran Azeez Oluremi, Babajide Isiaka Iyanda, Alimi Isiaka Akanni and Akande Wasiu Adeleke

They also asked the court to stop the Osun Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) from recognising Adeniyi and Lawal as the candidate of the party from Iwo LG and Iwo East LCDA, respectively.

In separate suits dated September 29, 2022, the aggrieved aspirants alleged that the Iwo APC only handpicked Adeniyi out of many aspirants who bought the Expression of Interest Forms without any consensus.

They added that they felt schemed out as they are card-carrying members of the party who bought local government elections’ Expression of Interest Forms for Iwo and were also screened alongside others.

“The inclusion of the OSSIEC in the petition is due to the fact the body is responsible for the conduct of the election, as well as set out guidelines for the conduct of Chairmanship/Councillorship Election for 15th October, 2022.

“We seek an Order of Interlocutory injunction restraining the APC from fielding Mr. Ishola Kamoli Adeniyi as the Chairmanship Aspirant/Contestant for Iwo Local Government Area on the its platform for Chairmanship/Councillorship election slated for 15th October, 2022 pending the final determination of this suit.

“We also ask, in the Order of Interlocutory injunction, that OSSIEC be restrained from conducting and or hold the election into Chairmanship/Councillorship positions of Iwo Local Government Area slated for 15th October, 2022 pending the final determination of this Suit,” the sheet by Oluremi and Iyanda read partly.”

The other suit by Akanni and Adeleke partly reads, “We seek an Order of Interlocutory injunction restraining the APC from fielding Lawal Adeniyi Lukman as the Chairmanship Aspirant/Contestant for Iwo East LCDA on the its platform for Chairmanship/Councillorship election slated for 15th October, 2022 pending the final determination of this suit.

“We also ask, in the Order of Interlocutory injunction, that OSIEC be restrained from conducting and or hold the election into Chairmanship/Councillorship positions of Iwo East LCDA slated for 15th October, 2022 pending the final determination of this Suit”.
