SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has been cited in a list of three players that are being considered to replace Pierre Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal of England, megasportsarena.com reports.

A report out of England indicates that Osimhen’s exploits over the years have been monitored by egg heads at Emirates Stadium, to the extent that they are now determined to make a move for the lad.

Steps in that direction have already reopened Osimhen’s transfer prospects with The Gunners, whose initial plan to buy him came right after he top scored at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

Despite missing out on a deal for Osimhen back then, The Gunners are back in the hunt for his signature and their latest move in that direction has been revealed by British tabloid, The Mirror.

The publication disclosed that Osimhen is on the radar of Arsenal as a viable option to fill the vacuum created by Aubameyang’s move to Barcelona of Spain, with a move for the Super Eagles’ star now expected once the transfer window opens at the end of this season.

Arsenal, though, are bound to get entangled in a transfer derby for the youngster, as their London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly in the hunt for Osimhen, who has now scored 58 career goals in 137 appearances as a professional footballer.

The report adds:  “The Gunners are in the market for a striker following the permanent departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona in the January transfer window.

“The futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are (also) up in the air with both out of contract in the summer.

“(Arsenal) manager, Mikel Arteta is considering moves for one of Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Osimhen to fill the void created by the departure of Aubameyang.

“However, Arsenal have competition for the services of the Nigeria international, with their north London rivals Totteham Hotspur also in the running for his signature in the summer.

“Osimhen won’t come cheap given that Napoli paid 70 million euros to acquire him from Lille in 2020, making the 2015 U17 World Cup winner the most expensive African-born player in history.

“The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal after the U17 World Cup in Chile but turned them down in favour of a move to Wolfsburg.”
