This comes after an account supposedly belonging to Abdulrazak Gurnar, winner of the 2021 Nobel prize for literature, stated Soyinka is lifeless.

However eagle eyed Twitter customers have been fast to note some crimson flags.

 

The primary crimson flag was the usage of a countable noun article for “information” — “a… information”.

Grammatically, “information” is uncountable and a Nobel laureate would know that.

 

The publish garnered over 150 retweets and 250 likes in a short time with some expressing their condolences .

However Soyinka’s son, Ilemakin, laughed off the rumors.

 

“The hearsay has been going spherical since final week. Soyinka is alive when final I checked,” he made this identified to Press Informant.

The account already has 14,000 followers.

 

In saying Gurnah’s Nobel prize win on Friday, the BBC had tagged the faux account, however Lola Shoneyin, Nigerian writer, quoted the tweet, declaring that Gurnah shouldn’t be Twitter person.
