However eagle eyed Twitter customers have been fast to note some crimson flags.

 

The primary crimson flag was the usage of a countable noun article for “information” — “a… information”.

Grammatically, “information” is uncountable and a Nobel laureate would know that.

 

The publish garnered over 150 retweets and 250 likes in a short time with some expressing their condolences .

However Soyinka’s son, Ilemakin, laughed off the rumors.

The account already has 14,000 followers.

 

In saying Gurnah’s Nobel prize win on Friday, the BBC had tagged the faux account, however Lola Shoneyin, Nigerian writer, quoted the tweet, declaring that Gurnah shouldn’t be Twitter person.
