In her book, “Myra Hindley: Inside the Mind of a Murderess,” which was published in 1988 by Jean Ritchie, Hindley is portrayed as having been raised in a strict and destitute household by her father, who routinely beat her and trained her to use violence to settle problems.

In 1961, while Hindley was only 18 years old and working as a typewriter, she crossed paths with Ian Brady for the first time. Despite the fact that she was aware that Brady had a history of burglaries on his record, she grew fascinated with him.
