Kidnapped Kogi Council Boss Regains Freedom

The Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Kogi State, Mr. Pius Kolawole has been set free.
Recall that the council chairman was kidnapped five days ago while com ing to Kogi State from Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to a family source who spoke on his release, excited supporters and family members welcomed him in his hometown, Egbe.

Mr. Pius Kolawole is well and healthy and has finally reunited with his family and supporters.

Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner confirmed his return noting that he had no idea if any ransom was paid.

He claimed that the concerted efforts of police and other sister security agencies combing the bush paid off on Wednesday, resulting in the victim’s release.

According to him, “He has regained freedom. Police and other sister agencies, hunters and vigilante men assisted by technology, mounted unrelenting pressure through a continued search of forests 24/7 until his release.

“I’m, however, not in the picture of any ransom payment,”

A few days ago, Adebayo Solomon, the Pension Board commissioner in Kogi State was murderd on Saturday after the Chairman of Yagba East Local Government and others were abducted.

It was gathered that gunmen shot Adebayo while he was travelling from Ilorin to Kabba in his vehicle at Eruku village a few kilometeres to Egbe.

Channels TV reported that the corpses of the Kogi Commissioner has been conveyed to ECWA Hospital, Egbe.
