Stray bullet allegedly kills 9-year-old girl

A stray bullet has killed a 9-year-old recognized as Zainab Bala-Umar at Gwanki Ward in Makarfi in the course of the ongoing native authorities elections in Kaduna State on Saturday, September 4.

An eyewitness, Alhaji Yahaya Gwanki, who spoke to Each day Belief, alleged that the stray bullet was discharged from a navy personnel in an effort to disperse the gang after the soldier was invited by a former chairman of Makarfi native authorities who can also be the APC candidate within the election.

In response to Each day Belief, Gwanki stated the APC candidate, Alhaji Kabir Maiyere had gone to one of many polling models underneath Fadamar Gwanki and whereas having a dialog with an electoral officer over some challenges of the e-voting machine, some youths needed to begin to shout, ‘ba ma so, ba ma so” that means “we don’t need.”

“Maiyere then invited troopers who shot within the air and within the course of, the lady was hit and died.” Gwanki stated.

Engr Auwal-bz Nuhu, the Particular Assistant to Ibrahim Wusoro, the Kaduna State PDP Secretary, who posted a photograph of the deceased, stated she was on her approach to Islamiyya college in Gwanki Ward when the incident occurred.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, who confirmed the incident, stated navy personnel weren’t allowed to be on the polling models.

He added that the police would arrest the suspects, examine the matter and temporary the press.
