Kaduna Lawmaker Aliyu Dies at 53

House of Representatives member from Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, Suleiman Aliyu, is dead.

Aliyu died on Tuesday at the Barau Dikko Specialists Hospital in the metropolis, aged 53.

An aide to the deceased, Tukur Abdul-Azeez, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, shortly after the news broke, said the lawmaker was treating malaria and typhoid at the hospital before he eventually died.

Abdul-Azeez partly said, “Yes, he passed away this morning. He had been suffering from typhoid and fever.”

The aide said Aliyu would be buried on Tuesday according to Islamic injunctions.

Aliyu’s death made it the sixth member of the House to have died since the 9th National Assembly was inaugurated on June 11, 2019.
