Julienne Marie was James Earl Jones’ first wife. In 1964, she met James Earl Jones while starring in Othello. They tied the knot in 1968 and divorced in 1972. Marie admitted that her marriage with Jones ended because they were separated too much owing to work, and Jones desired children, which she did not.

Julienne Marie is an American former actress and singer who made her Broadway debut as the youngest of Yul Brynner’s child brides in the original production of The King and I.

 

In 1959, she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as a young Indian lady in Whoop-Up, which ran for 56 performances.

She received a Theatre World award in 1963 for her performance in the off-Broadway revival of The Boys from Syracuse.

Julienne received her second Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in Foxy, starring Bert Lahr, in 1964. Foxy appeared in 72 performances.
