On June 21, Baltimore linebacker Jaylon Ferguson was discovered unconscious inside a Baltimore resident.

On July 1, 2022, a spokesman for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner released that Ferguson’s death was determined to be accidental, according to the examiner’s office, and was caused by “the combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine.” following an autopsy.

 

The Baltimore Police Department said in a statement that they responded to a call about a “questionable death” at a residence on June 21 shortly after 11 p.m. They discovered Ferguson being treated by paramedics there, who “never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on the scene.”

Ferguson was a father of three. Before being picked by the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL) with the 85th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Jaylon Ferguson played college football at Louisiana Tech. He played three seasons with the Ravens.

In the 2020 season, Ferguson started in one game and appeared in 14 total, finishing the season with 2.0 sacks and 30 tackles. In 2021, Ferguson appeared in 10 games, recording six tackles but no sacks.
