oby Dorr helped a man she was in love with get out of a high-security prison two days before Valentine’s Day in 2006. She was “surprised at how easy it was,” she said.

Dorr is sometimes called “the Dog Lady.” She used to date John Manard, who is now in jail for killing someone and breaking into a house. The Star said that Manard was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder for his role in a 1996 carjacking that killed one person.

Who Is Toby Dorr? Her Age
Toby Dorr was born in the United States in 1958. He is known for sneaking a prisoner out of jail in a dog crate. She turned 64 this year.

Dorr was 46 when she was told she had a small amount of thyroid cancer, which she bravely beat. And she felt like her marriage and personal life were falling apart, so she started Safe Harbor Prison Dog, a volunteer program to help dogs get back on their feet after being in prison.

But after a prisoner threatened Toby, her contact in the warden’s office is said to have put John Manard, another prisoner, in charge of protecting her for a while in October 2005. During that time, they fell in love and decided to run away and start a new life somewhere else. John was in a dog crate in the back of Toby’s car. The 48-year-old Dorr drove away, but he was caught two weeks later.

“At that time in my life, I think I was just dying to be loved and to feel like someone cared about me.” Dorr added, “I do think John Maynard loved me as much as he could love anyone at the time. He was pretty broken himself.”

I found freedom from expectations, responsibilities, and deadlines behind bars. I found out who I was. Days of heartbreak, soul-searching, and crying were productive, and the ashes for a new garden were full of nutrients. I learned that people can be understanding and forgiving with each other.

Toby Dorr Family Details: Her Ex Husband, Son, and Daugther
Toby Dorr, who used to go by the name Young, seemed to live a perfect life. She had parents who helped her, married the boy she liked in high school, worked hard at Sprint, a telecommunications company, and had two kids while she was going to college.

She got married to Chris Dorr, who she met in Massachusetts and fell in love with. Toby thanks Chris for making her happy, healthy, and at peace. He says that he, too, has been through hard times, which helps him understand her in a way that no one else has. Chris didn’t feel bad or laugh at her when he heard about her past. Instead, he told her he understood how she felt and made her feel safe.

Where Is Toby Dorr Now?
Toby Dorr admitted to helping and encouraging a jailbreak and bringing illegal items into a prison. Before she got 27 months in prison, she had to pay about $7,500 in restitution.

She was let out of a federal prison in Texas in 2008. After that, Dorr moved back to Kansas with her mother. She felt uneasy in the city for three months because of her past. So, Toby took a web design job in Boston and moved there, only to come back before Christmas.

Then, in 2009, Dorr and Chris got back together and got married again in a simple courthouse ceremony. She is now a social worker who helps women get over emotional traumas through a series of workshops on personal growth.

According to her Facebook, Dorr finished writing her story “of escape and redemption” in June 2019.
