History of Kashim Shettima’s family
Kashim Shettima was born on September 2, 1966, to Sir Kashim Ibrahim’s family in Maiduguri, Borno State. Shettima has protected his family’s privacy and kept them out of the spotlight.

He is wed to his wife Nana Shettima in the interim. Three children were received by the couple jointly, and they have been raised privately.

Shettima attended Lamisula Primary School in Maiduguri from 1972 to 1978. He studied in Government Community Secondary School, Biu in Borno State’s southern region from 1978 to 1980.

After that, he was moved to Potiskum’s Government Science Secondary School, where he eventually earned his diploma in 1983. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) in Agricultural Economics.

Kashim Shettima worked in the banking industry since 1993 before entering politics. He began his career in 1997 by enrolling as a Deputy Manager at African International Bank Limited.

In 2001, he advanced through the ranks, going from Deputy Manager to Manager. The next year, he was appointed branch manager of Maiduguri for Zenith Bank. In the future, he was elevated to Senior Manager/Branch Head, Assistant General Manager, and Deputy General Manager positions.

He quit his position as General Manager at Zenith Bank in 2007 after being appointed Commissioner for Finance in Borno State.

From 2007 to 2011, he served as a Commissioner in five Ministries. In the January 2011 primary elections, Engineer Modu Fannami Gubio was selected as the ANPP’s governorship candidate.

But after gunmen later murdered Gubio, Shettima was chosen in a second primary in February 2011.
