Oba Lamidi Adeyemi who happens to be the 45th Alaafin of Oyo passed away a few hours ago.

His death has come as a shock to Nigerians considering the number of wives and children he has and the question many people are asking is, ‘WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WIVES AND CHILDREN?’

  1. He was born on 15 October 1938 which means that he was 83 years at the time of his death.
  2. His real name is Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi.
  3. He became the 45th Alaafin of Oyo after he succeeded Alaafin Gbadegesin Ladigbolu II in 1970, during the governorship of Colonel Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, after the end of the Nigerian Civil War.
  4. His father was the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi II Adeniran who was deposed and exiled in 1954 for sympathizing with the National Council of Nigerian Citizens (NCNC).
  5. In 1975, former Nigerian president, General Murtala Ramat Muhammed added Oba Adeyemi to his entourage to the hajj.
  6. Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was chancellor of Uthman dan Fodiyo University in Sokoto from 1980 to 1992.
  7. He was once the Permanent Chairman of the Council of Obas and Chiefs in Oyo State, however, that position changed in 2011.
  8. He was a lover of boxing, as he was a boxer before ascending the throne of his Fathers.
  9. The name of his senior wife is Ayaba Abibat Adeyemi. His other wives were Ayaba Rahmat Adedayo Adeyemi, Ayaba Mujidat Adeyemi, Ayaba Rukayat Adeyemi, Ayaba Folashade Adeyemi, Ayaba Badirat Ajoke Adeyemi, Ayaba Memunat Omowunmi Adeyemi, Ayaba Omobolanle Adeyemi, Ayaba Moji Adeyemi, Ayaba Anuoluwapo Adeyemi, and Ayaba Damilola Adeyemi.
