Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Fee (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa has narrated how she was nearly raped whereas partaking in investigative journalism.

 

Talking after receiving an award on the maiden version of the Nationwide Freedom of Info (FOI) Awards organised by the Worldwide Press Centre (IPC) and Media Rights Agenda (MRA), in Abuja, Abike inspired journalists in Nigeria to brace the odd and undertake investigative journalism.

 

Sharing her expertise whereas partaking within the follow, the previous lawmaker recalled how the well timed intervention of Main Hamza Al-Mustapha, the previous chief safety officer to the late Head of State, Common Sani Abacha, saved her from being raped after she was arrested and locked up in a army facility in Apapa space of Lagos state.

 

Dabiri who labored for the Nigerian Tv Authority (NTA) for 15 years, anchoring the weekly NTA Information line programme, stated;

“Dare to enterprise, dare to succeed. I used to be arrested at some extent I used to be doing investigative journalism, locked up in Apapa in one of many army services there. What saved me from being raped was Main Al-Mustapha who occurred to return in at that time. So, you can’t afford to be afraid.”
