Gov Okowa Urges Chiefs And People Of Itsekiri Kingdom To Accept Olu Of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III As Thier Monarch

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, yesterday, urged the chiefs and people of Itsekiri kingdom to accept the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, as their monarch. He said this when he received the monarch, who visited him at Government House, Asaba.

 

The governor explained that God makes kings and everyone must accept the one installed by God, respect the king and the institution he represents. He said: “Let all the chiefs and people of Itsekiri kingdom work with His Majesty the Olu Of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to ensure peace prevails in Itsekiri nation, Delta and Nigeria.

 

“As our nation continues to grapple with security challenges, all Nigerians need to be on bent knees, praying for the peace and development of this country.

 

“When our religious and traditional rulers are praying for the country and its people, God hears their prayers because they are representatives of the people.

 

“It is my prayer that under your reign, the Itsekiri nation will have peace and development, so that your people will have cause to glorify the name of our God.”

Earlier, Olu Of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III told Okowa that the official visit was his first since his coronation, noting that his delegation was in Asaba on a thank-you-visit to the governor for support during his coronation.

 

Olu Of Warri added: “We commit to unwavering support for your visionary leadership and your government’s dedicated effort towards repositioning Delta for sustained growth and development.”
