Ghana Vs Nigeria: Maduka Okoye To Miss World Cup Qualifier Due To Illness

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is set to miss out on the game against Ghana on Friday as the Super Eagles look to clench their qualification for the 2022 world cup in Qatar.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took to its Twitter page to announce on Tuesday that Okoye will miss the match due to medical reasons.

Eyimba FC goalkeeper John Noble has been chosen to replace Okoye, who represented Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Daniel Akpeyi of Kaizer Chiefs and Francis Uzoho of Omonia are the other goalkeepers in the Nigerian camp.

Wilfred Ndidi, a midfielder for Leceister City, will also miss both legs of the match against Ghana following an injury.

However, 20 Super Eagles players have landed in Ghana for the World Cup qualifier.

Samuel Chukwueze, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Frank Onyeka, Odion Ighalo, Daniel Chukwueze, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Frank Onyeka, Odion Ighalo, Daniel Chukwueze, Samuel Chukwueze among others are currently at the camp.
