4 corpses have been recovered and 13 passengers rescued alive whereas one individual nonetheless lacking after an 18 seater bus plunged into the Black River a tributary to river Niger in Koton Karfe, Kogi State.

The accident occured round 7.30 pm, on Tuesday, September 21, when the motive force of the bus slept off, misplaced management and plunged into the river.

The state Sector Commander of the FRSC, Solomon Agure, who confirmed the incident stated that the bus with registration quantity Plateau-JJN 73 XA, took off from Ijora Seven Up underneath bridge in Lagos and was heading to Kano.

In keeping with Agure, 4 passngers together with a girl died whereas seven others had been critically injured.

Additionally confirming the incident in Lokoja, the state Commandant of Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps, Suleiman Mafara, stated on the receipt of the misery name, his males of the Catastrophe and Disaster Unit along with the Federal Roads Security Corps and volunteer divers had been mobilised to the scene.

He stated that 4 corpses have already been recovered and 13 others have been rescued alive whereas one individual remains to be lacking.

He added that the corpses have been deposited in a morgue in Lokoja.
