A former Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government Hamza Elayo Mohammed has died.

Elayo, a popular politician in Nasarawa State, died on Wednesday after a brief illness. He was a lead consultant to Adorihem Strategies.

Hamza Elayo Mohammed graduated from Federal College of Education, Yola, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and University of Jos obtaining Nigeria Certificate of Education (English/History), Bachelor of Education (Language Arts), Masters in International Law and Diplomacy and Diploma in Mass Communication.

He was a Primary and Secondary School teacher, Executive Secretary (Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Plateau State), three time Commissioner in the Government of Nasarawa State (2000-2003, 2005-2007, 2013-2015), two time Special Adviser to the Governor of Nasarawa State (2003-2005 and 2015 to May, 2019) and Secretary to Nasarawa State Government (2011-2013).

Hamza Elayo Mohammed had participated in 1983, 1990, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015 Elections. In all these elections, he had served variously as Presiding Officer, Collation officer, Collation and Returning Agent. In 2011, based on these experiences, he established a Election Command Centre in Lafia that engineered the ouster of a sitting Governor of Nasarawa State, Aliyu Akwe Doma.

The historic feat ensured Umaru Tanko Al-makura became the only CPC Governor in Nigeria, thanks to the ingenuity of THE TA’AL Command Centre. The databank kept ensured that all facts required by Lawyers were readily available, hence the victory in the Courts. The 2015 General Elections provided another platform deploy this strategy. He set up the Election Command Centres for Benue, Plateau, Zamfara, Bauchi and maintained the Nasarawa Command Centre.

Interestingly, APC won in all the states in spite of the obvious odds of facing candidates of sitting PDP Governors. The Directorate of Research and Strategy of the Buhari Campaign Organisation also interacted with the Nasarawa Election Command Centre in Lafia and Abuja, sharing vital information.

In 2015, he set up the ADOJA Command Centre in Lokoja and Prince Abubakar Audu won the election, thanks to the untiring effort of the Commander (as Hamza Elayo Mohammed is fondly called). His efforts in Kogi State were a marvel to all APC National leaders who came to monitor the elections and served as the only coordinating Centre.

Elayo Mohammed also consulted and supervised the Governorship elections in 2018 Ekiti and Osun State.

He was providing TECHNICAL assistance to the Legal Teams of the two successful APC candidates lawyers (Wole Olanipekun SAN, Yusuf Ali SAN and Alex Iziyon SAN), that handled Governor Almakura’s election cases in 2011 and 2015, will attest to the utilitarian value of the Command Centre.
