Five Top Players that Might Not Get to Feature in the FIFA World Cup Due to Injuries

The FIFA World Cup is close, and we will hear the first kickoff shouts in Doha in a few days, setting the team up for an epic event. The fans would look forward to enjoying their time, while the players would want to bring glory to their country. It is an exciting event to look forward to, and we expect some of the best players to feature.

Undoubtedly, for many players, Qatar 2022 might be the last World Cup they ever play. Therefore, we expect them to give it their all, but unfortunately, some players will have to miss out on the competition. Some players couldn’t help their nations make it into the World Cup.

Aside from those missing out because they couldn’t help their teams qualify, we have a few that have picked up an injury that will keep them on the sidelines for months. And as a result, they would most likely not be able to represent their teams at the FIFA World Cup. This news has been devastating for these players.

For some, there is still hope that they can get to full recovery before the competition starts. Meanwhile, others have been ruled out based on the severity of their injuries. So, let’s check out five top players that might be missing out on the FIFA World Cup in Qatar because of injuries.

Reece James

One of the most exciting talents we were looking forward to seeing in the FIFA World Cup this year was Reece James. Since making his way to the Chelsea first team and helping the team win the UEFA Champions League, Recce James has become a public figure that many touted as one of the world’s best right-backs.

Although he wasn’t guaranteed to be a starter, there was a chance for the player to represent the Three Lions since he was one of the best players at the start of the season. But unfortunately, that story looks bleak, and the possibility of playing in Qatar is slim since he had surgery that can take up to four months to heal.

Paul Pogba

Since returning to Juventus, the French Superstar hasn’t been around much on the playing field. The star has had many off-field crises that have hampered his season and being out injured. The player hasn’t been featured for his new club. He was set to return fully, but he soon returned to injury.

Paul Pogba will be one of the players missing from the FIFA World Cup when it kicks off in Qatar because of the new injury he picked up. He will be on the sidelines for months, and his return will be after the competition has been concluded. So, we won’t be seeing one of the bright stars that shone in 2018.

Kyle Walker

The English veteran right-back picked up an injury playing for Manchester City, and since then, he has been on the sidelines. His return to playing competitively is unknown because the severity of the injury is high. Therefore, the player won’t be part of the team that will go to Qatar. He would be watching from the stands.

Gareth Southgate will have to look to other right-back options like Kieran Trippier and Trent Alexander Arnold to fill his place since Reece James will most likely not be available. It is a big miss for the Three Lions because Walker is one of the best right-backs in the world today, and he is a significant influence on the team.

Romelu Lukaku

The Belgian big man hasn’t done much since returning to Inter on loan. He has been struggling to stay fit and feature in games. He only recently returned to play for Inter, but unfortunately, he picked up another injury that will most likely keep him on the sidelines for some weeks, which might see him miss the World Cup.

We’re sure that Lukaku will be training hard to return to the team and help the Belgian national team to win their first competitive trophy. However, the possibility looks slim, and it will take a lot for the players to become fit and play for their country again. Therefore, we don’t expect to see Lukaku on the team at the World Cup.

Ngolo Kante

In 2018, Ngolo Kante was one of the best players in the competition, and undoubtedly, France owes him an outstanding debt for helping them win the competition. But unfortunately, they will have to defend their title without him. He is out injured and has been struggling with injuries for a few years. Sadly, we might not see Kante play at the World Cup again.
