There was pandemonium in and round Eburutu Military Barracks space of Calabar Municipality in Cross River State, as deafening sounds rocked the realm on Friday afternoon.

PRESSINFORMANT experiences that the bomb explosion shattered roofs and partitions of buildings near the barracks whereas among the buildings have been pulled down by the heavy explosion.

Reacting, the Nigerian Military claimed accountability for the explosion, explaining that the train is a routine one carried out by the army “to detonate expired explosives.”

An announcement signed by Capt. Dorcas Oluwatope Aluko, Assistant Military Public Relation Officer, 13 Brigade, reads:

“The 13 Brigade Nigerian Military could be conducting a disposal of expired explosives on the Capturing Vary Calabar from 14 to 17 October 2021.

“The train is a routine army exercised aimed to detonate expired explosives. Members of Ikot Effangha, Ikot Ansa,and Lemina communities are suggested to remain off vary space in the course of the train.

“Most people are equally urged to not panic from sound of explosives however go about their lawful each day actions.”
