Expectant, Nursing Mothers Can Serve At Their Husband’s State Of Residence – NYSC

All expectant mothers and nursing mothers not deployed to their husbands’ places of domicile can now proceed to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camps within their spouses’ states of residence, the scheme has said.

 

NYSC Director General, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, announced this at a briefing on the 2021 Batch “C” Stream One orientation course which started yesterday in all the 37 camps nationwide.

 

Before this development, expectant mothers and nursing mothers could only seek redeployment from the state they were posted to after completing the mandatory three-week orientation.

But Ibrahim explained that the new policy is meant to ease the burden on the women to show that the NYSC is “an organisation with a human face”.

 

He said: “All married expectant mothers and nursing mothers not deployed to their husbands’ places of domicile can now proceed to the NYSC camps within their spouses’ states of residence but must present for registration, in addition to other documents, evidence of marriage, husbands’ identity and evidence of husbands’ place of domicile.”

 

The director general, who was represented by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the NYSC, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, insisted that only prospective corps members and camp officials who test negative to the COVIC-19 would be allowed access into the camps nationwide.

 

According to him, officials from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) will be at the 37 orientation camps during the exercise.
