Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has mourned a former Deputy Governor of the Central Financial institution of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Obadiah Mailafia.

The 64-year-old improvement economist died on the Nationwide Hospital Abuja on Sunday morning.

Luka Binniyat, spokesman for the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) had mentioned Mailafia, who took refuge in Makurdi, Benue state, following alleged persistent harassment by the Division of State Companies (DSS), fell sick on Saturday and was rushed to an Abuja hospital the place he was pronounced lifeless on Sunday morning.

The previous deputy governor, who was the Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) within the 2019 election, was a identified authorities critic and had advocated for public sector and change charge reforms.
