EPL: You remind me of Suarez, Sanchez – Joe Cole tells Arsenal forward
Former Chelsea midfielder, Joe Cole, has heaped praise on Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli, describing him as an outstanding footballer.
Cole also likened Martinelli to former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
Martinelli joined Arsenal from Brazilian outfit Ituano for £6 million back in the summer of 2019.
The Brazilian has cemented his place as a first-team player on the left flank over Emile Smith Rowe in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Speaking on BT Sport, Cole said, “This is an outstanding footballer. I have loved him from the moment I laid eyes on him. He’s so busy; he reminds me of Alexis Sanchez and Luiz Suarez.
“He’s exceptional with the ball at his feet; he’s got great technique, and he affects the game.”
He added: “He works so hard, and I thought he was the ‘Man of the Match’ in the north London derby (last weekend). When he gets the ball, there’s no thought of going back; he just keeps driving forward. He’s so tenacious.”
