On the 5th of December, he made his Premier League debut, replacing the injured Robin Koch in the ninth minute of a 3–1 away loss to Chelsea. In a 1–1 home tie against Liverpool on the 19th of April, 2021, he scored his first league goal, heading home a cross from Jack Harrison. In his international career, manager Vicente del Bosque brought Llorente up to the Spain national squad for a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina in May 2016. Later that month, he debuted in a 3–1 triumph over Switzerland, replacing Cesc Fàbrega. Llorente was named to Luis Enrique’s 24-man squad for UEFA Euro 2020 on May 24, 2021.
