CAMP REOPENING - NYSC Receives 60,000 Test Kits

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has received 60, 000 test kits from Theophilus Danjuma Foundation to aid the testing of Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) and camp officials ahead of the reopening of camps for Batch B Stream II orientation course.

The NYSC insisted that everyone, whether vaccinated or not would undergo compulsory COVID – 19 testing before they are allowed into the camps nationwide.

The scheme insisted that only persons who test negative are allowed into the camps.

It added that PCMs or camp officials, whose results are reactive or positive, are taken over by the Nigeria Centre for a Disease Control Surveillance team in camp.

Director – General of the NYSC, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim said this during a briefing ahead of the resumption of camp activities for Batch B Stream II orientation exercise today.

The NYSC boss, who was represented by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the organisation, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, said all the camps have been fumigated and decontaminated ahead of the resumption of camp activities.

The DG said since the outbreak of the pandemic, five orientation courses have been successfully executed without COVID – 19 infractions.

He said surveillance team from the NCDC and state health officials have been deployed in the NYSC camps ahead of the orientation exercise.

According to the DG, the number of participants allowed into camp have been reduced nationwide to provide room for physical and social distancing.

He added that PCMs resume in batches over a period of five days to avoid crowd during registration.
