Buhari Appoints Professor Ahmed Yusuf As Atomic Energy Commission CEO

President Muhammadu Buhari has authorised the appointment of Prof. Yusuf A. Ahmed because the substantive Chairman/CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Vitality Fee(NAEC) with impact from September, 2021. Prof. Ahmed was offered together with his letter of appointment by the Everlasting Secretary, Normal Providers Workplace,OSGF.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Yola, Adamawa State in 1970, Prof. Ahmed holds a B.Tech (Physics), MSc and PhD (Nuclear Physics) with specialization in Nuclear Instrumentation and Spectrometry. He has obtained trainings from varied worldwide laboratories on Reactor Physics, Nuclear Knowledge, Nuclear Security, Radioisotopes Manufacturing, Waste Administration, Decommissioning and Radio Analytical Methods.

He began his profession in nuclear science and know-how in 12 months 2000 at Ahmadu Bello College (ABU), Zaria as a part of the educational employees crew of the Nigeria Analysis Reactor-1(NIRR-1) on the Heart for Vitality Analysis and Coaching (CERT). He rose by means of the ranks to develop into a Professor of Nuclear Physics in 2017 and Director and Head of Laboratories of the Heart (2015-2019). He has served in varied nationwide and worldwide committees on nuclear security and safety.

Till his current appointment, he was the Director (Particular Duties) of the Fee, Secretary of AFRA-IAEA Program Administration Committee, Steering Committee Member of the Worldwide Working Group on Advancing Insider Risk Mitigation and Member of the Joint Working Group of the Worldwide Partnership for Nuclear Disarmament Verification.

Prof. Ahmed is an Affiliate Member of the Worldwide Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, Fellow of the Nigerian Affiliation of Technologist in Engineering, Fellow of the Institute of Human and Pure Sources and Member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics.

He’s married with 4 youngsters.
