Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears dated from 1998 to 2002.

Even though the duo’s relationship seemed perfect at the time, fans descended on Justin on how he spoke about his ex-girlfriend following their split.

As a result, Timberlake apologized to his ex Spears for his behavior.

Britney and Justin met in December 1992 while co-starring in the Mickey Mouse Club.

The pair remained friends until 1998 before they began dating and split in 2002.

In an interview, Justin hinted that Britney’s “infidelity” was the cause of their relationship breakdown.

In December 2002, he released Cry Me a River music video, which let out a very different story of their breakup and pointed the blame squarely in Spears’ direction. To the entent of casting Spears lookalike to play the role of his cheating ex-girlfriend.

In November 2003, Britney also released “Everytime,” which was considered her “reply” to Justin’s music and their breakup on her album In the Zone.
