Former Nigerian senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has paid for an electric car set to be delivered to him early next year.

Bruce disclosed this in a Twitter post on Saturday alongside photos of himself posing with the yet-to-be-completed vehicle.

According to the erstwhile lawmaker, the move was to further demonstrate the need for Nigeria to do away with combustion engine cars by 2035.

Speaking on its composition, the founder of Silverbird Group said the vehicle is capable of covering more miles per charge than a Tesla.

He wrote: “In practising what I preach, I recently put a deposit on this yet to be manufactured Lucid Electric Car.Ben Bruce Set Ben Murray-Bruce

Delivery is early next year. It’s capable of more miles per charge than a Tesla. An amazing machine. Nigeria should ban all combustion Engine cars by 2035. #ClimateAction.”

Across the world, there has been increased calls for government and relevant agencies to phase out gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles globally by 2035.

Before he left the senate, Ben Bruce advocated for electric cars at parliament.
