‘Ban On Twitter In Nigeria Has Been Lifted’ – Nigerian Gov’t Confirms As Twitter Is Set To Open Office In Nigeria

The Federal Authorities of Nigeria has confirmed that the ban on Twitter in Nigeria has been lifted.

The ban will seemingly be lifted from midnight (Thursday, January 13) and this comes after the favored micro-blogging platform agreed to open an office in Nigeria.

This was made acknowledged by a senior authorities official talked about on Wednesday, January 12. The federal authorities of Nigeria banned the platform on June 4, 2021, and this occurred after the platform eradicated a submit from President Muhammadu Buhari that threatened bandits in Nigeria.

Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi who’s the director-general of the Nationwide Information Experience Enchancment Firm made this acknowledged in an announcement that reads;

“Twitter has agreed to behave with a respectful acknowledgment of Nigerian authorized tips and the nationwide custom and historic previous on which such legal guidelines has been constructed… to develop a Code of Conduct in keeping with worldwide best practices, related in nearly all developed nations.

Subsequently, the (federal authorities) lifts the suspension of the Twitter operations in Nigeria from midnight of thirteenth January 2022.”
