Are Tim Rice And Anneka Rice Related?

British born lyricist, Tim Rice is not in any way related to TV Journalist Anneka Rice, but the two celebrities live near each other in Barnes, South-West London.

Tim, born and bred in England, began his writing career as a lyricist in the mid-1960s, by partnering with his then fellow music student, Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Their initial lyrics were inspired by Biblical themes such as “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” (1967) and “Jesus Christ Superstar” (1969).

Tim also collaborated with the likes of Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA, and together they wrote Chess, Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Aida.

Tim is the lyricist behind the Alan Menken musical King David, and DreamWorks Animation The Road to El Dorado.

The Grammy award winner, has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, is a fellow of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors.

In 1983 and 1984, Tim played host on the Brit Awards. He is one of the wealthiest songwriters in the industry.

Anneka Rice

TV presenter Anneka Rice was born in Wales but grew up in Surrey.

She is married to Nick Allott and they have two sons together. She also has another son with TV executive Tom Gutteridge.

Rice began her career with the BBC as a presenter on the shows – The World Today and Twenty-Four Hours.

She has also been a guest on My Teenage Diary for Radio 4 and in 2020 she launched Anneka’s 80s TV Treasure Hunt for Radio 2.
